ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- People who need to properly dispose of certain items will be able to do so beginning later this month.

The Rivanna Solid Waste Authority is offering its Electronic Waste, Residential Household Waste, and Bulky Waste Amnesty Days.

The Electronic Waste Collection will take place Sept. 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

RSWA says space is limited for this event, which is open to residents of Albemarle County and Charlottesville only.

This event will accept computer systems and accessories, printers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, VCRs, camcorders, stereos and televisions.

People can bring no more than two tube-style TVs or monitors per person, and each person is limited to 10 items in total.

Those interested in participating in this event need to sign up for a time window here and bring their ticket with them when they go to drop off their items.

Then on Sept. 23 and 24, RSWA will be accepting household hazardous substances to make sure such items are properly categorized and directed to offsite management locations.

This event is open to residents of Albemarle County, Charlottesville and Scottsville. Nelson County residents who get a voucher from the Nelson County government can also bring in items.

RSWA will be accepting acids, adhesives, antifreeze, batteries, CFLs, floor and furniture polish, fluorescent tubes, gasoline, household cleaners, kerosene, motor oil, paint and paint-related products or solvents, and pesticides from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Finally, there will be three amnesty days in October that will be open between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. to residents of Albemarle County, Charlottesville and Scottsville.

On Oct. 1, people can bring furniture and mattresses.

Then on Oct. 8, RSWA will be accepting household appliances, such as refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, stoves, furnaces, water heaters, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, heat pumps, microwaves and toasters.

The last amnesty day will be on Oct. 15, when tires will be accepted as long as they are not oversized.
