The Renfrew Curling Club got a boost from the Ontario Trillium Foundation ahead of its October opening.

Club President Tammy Wall spoke with myFM at an event on Saturday, September 17th to celebrate the improvements made thanks to the $75,000 cash influx.

Town Councilor Sandi Heins and Laura Lapinskie, constituency assistant to MPP John Yakabuski, joined the Renfrew Curling Club’s members on Saturday to officially commemorate their successful bid for the funding.

While the new HVAC and air conditioning systems are up and running at the club facility on Xavier Street, Wall says a new dehumidifier for their ice shed is still on the way and work on their ice surface will have to wait until it arrives.

Wall says the wait will be worth it, as the new dehumidifier unit will allow for a better, safer ice surface that could potentially stay open for twelve months a year.

Even with a possible delay to the start of curling season in Renfrew, Wall tells myFM that the new HVAC system is vital to safely fulfilling their upcoming schedule.

Wall adds that the the new air flow in the building will also make their bonspiels and events hosted on site more comfortable year-round.
